"I wanted to let you know that we are very happy with Sylvan Crossings and the care that Peggy receives.

I don’t know what happened with Nita; however, I know that the staff you have are top notch.

You know these things, but I wanted to write the things that I’ve noticed among many positives:

The staff always ensures that Peggy drinks her 2 mugs of water everyday which is one of our main concerns because she gets dehydrated so quickly and goes downhill (physically and mentally) very fast if she doesn’t get enough water. They groom her in the mornings (besides the usual toothbrushing, they comb her hair, moisturize her face, makeup), & sponge bathe her every night before bed.

The meals they prepare are mainly from scratch meals - not frozen, ultra processed foods. As an example, when they make mashed potatoes, they are fresh from real potatoes, not boxed! I was amazed to see one of the staff mashing potatoes by hand with a hand masher the way my mom did when I was growing up. Chicken and beef are fresh, not frozen. The cleanliness of the kitchen is immaculate, as well as the whole facility.

She looks healthier than she has for a few years. With the water that they ensure she drinks, she’s as cognizant as she can be despite her Alzheimer’s.

They are really very kind, loving, and respectful to my mom. It’s been very nice that the staff has been consistent since Peggy has lived there. There isn’t high turnover.

When I was there, I never saw anyone sitting around on their phones like I did at the previous assisted living. Everyone worked very hard and together as a team. The only time a phone came out was for translation with me, which I appreciated so we could communicate. They’ve never used the phone with my mom to translate, which is good because she wouldn’t understand what to do with a translator app! The caregivers’ kind words, actions, and body language overcome any language barrier. My mom even commented how the staff is top-notch. That says a lot because my mom doesn’t usually give compliments.

I really appreciate that Carolina and Miguel gave me their cell numbers so that if I need to contact them, I can reach them directly.
